Looks like an abandoned beach town. locals claim its not, but every other building is abandoned. really wierd feel to the city, expensive restaurants but the food is not good. no stores, few hotels, and nobody on the beach. (20.10.2011, 13 Photos)
2011-10-15 Abandoned Hospital
This is an abandoned hospital we roamed around in today. Three guards armed with automatic weapons stood outside. They encouraged us to take a look around inside the building. Not the safest thing to do, considering it felt like the walls could crumble at any time. But it was amazing to see trees growing from the walls and vegetation completely taking over the building. We toured this private collection of old pottery. to be honest it was really boring, but we had a great time. mostly because the "tour guide" was following us around to make sure we didnt steal anything, she didnt say one word. it was like having a kgb agent always following you around. we tryed to get in as many pics with her as possible. which proved to be a fun game. Sailed on the Luka sailboat from Cartegena, Columbia to Portabella, Panama. Our captain had sailed solo, non-stop, around the world, against the wind. it took 13 months and he is in the guiness book of world records (09.09.2011, 63 Photos)

Small mud volcano outside of Cartagena, Columbia. It was a lot smaller than we expected and it smelled kinda weird. The mud was warm, but the bath was full and it was raining. Beautiful caribbean town. our first taste of the caribbean. It was really hot here, and when it rained it poured. Lots of art in the town, the old town was surrounded by a wall which was pretty cool. Lots of high rises and overall a very modern city. they had party buses driving around the city. They were old school buses with a band on the back and drunked tourists singing and dancing. We stayed in a bungalow on a coffee farm with a beautiful view of the valley. We ground and made coffee every morning and enjoyed the tranquil sounds of the forest. The sacadas were insanely loud until 1 hour after dark, then the whole forest was silent. Eerily silent. (02.09.2011, 37 Photos)

Huge cathedral in a salt mine outside of Bogota. It was an amazing sight to see. With all the flashing, color-changing lights it seemed more like a night club than a church. There was even a conference room and a movie theater inside! (31.08.2011, 21 Photos)

Fernando Botero has donated a lot to Medellin (his birthtown) and Bogota, the capital of his birthcountry. In Bogota he built a brilliant art museum in 2000. Macchu Pichu celebrated its 100th anniversary of being discovered by the western world on July 24th, the exact day we visited. We didn't know that until we got there, and we didn't really belive the tour guide, but Wikipedia agrees so it must be true. (25.07.2011, 58 Photos)
